1.1.1Cruelty to young children
On 31 May came a grim news
An evil mother
and her lesbian partner have been convicted of murdering tragic two-year-old
Liam Fee. Rachel Trelfa, 31, and her civil partner Nyomi Fee, 29, killed Fee's
son after a barrage of abuse at her home in
The toddler was found dead having suffered a
ruptured heart as a result of severe blunt force trauma to his body. Trelfa and
Fee both denied killing the child but were convicted of his murder following a
seven-week trial at the High Court in
The callous women, originally of Ryton,
The jury found Trelfa, also known as Rachel Fee, and Nyomi Fee had subjected the toddler to an escalating pattern of cruelty during his short life.
In the days before his death he suffered a broken leg and
arm, but he was killed by a blow to his abdomen which was so severe it ruptured
his heart. The pathologist who examined the boy also found more than 30
external injuries on the toddler's lifeless body and fractures to the boy's
upper arm and thigh. Several members of the jury were reduced to tears as a
police video showing the toddler's body was played to the court.

1.1.2 Ayeeshia Jane Smith: Mum Kathryn Smith guilty of murder /
8 April 2016 A mother has been found guilty of murdering
her 21-month-old daughter, who died with injuries likened to those of a car
crash victim. Kathryn Smith, 23, was
convicted of murder and cruelty to a child over the death of Ayeeshia Jane
Smith at her flat in
The jury decided Smith was the one who delivered the
fatal blow, which pathologists said was probably a "stamp" that tore
her heart. Ayeeshia, collapsed at the couple's home in
The trial heard social services were aware of Ayeeshia
from birth. They had placed Smith in supported housing in Swadlincote,
Derbyshire, after finding out she was living in her father's garage while
pregnant. In June 2013, the child was placed with a foster family but sent back
to live with her mother in October, who had by then started a relationship with
Rigby and was living in
The court heard Ayeeshia had a heart injury usually seen
in people who have fallen off buildings or been in a car crash. Pathologists
found 16 separate injuries on her body, including a historical bleed on the
brain.
There was a pattern of non-accidental injuries stretching
back to the time Ayeeshia was returned to the care of her mother. She had
thrived while in foster care but was malnourished and at the bottom of the
child weight charts by the time of her death.
In hindsight, professionals seem to have missed a number
of red-flag moments that should have alerted them to step in, especially a
life-threatening event when the toddler collapsed and was rushed to hospital
three months before her death.
Children's Services were not even aware she required
resuscitation. The diagnosis of a febrile convulsion had actually come from the
child's mother, not from any expert. No tests were carried out on Ayeeshia,
which would have shown the brain and spinal column bleed she had suffered,
likely caused by violent shaking.
A serious case review by Derbyshire County Council is
under way and it won't be known until its publication what mistakes, if any,
were made.
Smith and Rigby, who was considered the toddler's
stepfather, were regular cannabis users
Burton MP Andrew Griffiths said an independent inquiry
was needed.
Comparing the case to that of Victoria Climbie and the death of Baby Peter, he
said it was too serious to be looked at by local social services. "Such a
shocking and brutal death that raises so many questions about how social
workers operate should not be placed in the hands of the local authority to
investigate itself," he said.
"This child was known to social services from the
very moment she was born, and throughout her life social workers were aware of
the real danger that she was in. "It's remarkable and deeply concerning
that, given there appears to be such obvious signs of risk to her life, that
social workers didn't intervene earlier and didn't take steps to take her from
her mother."
Ayeeshia died from a laceration to the heart on 1 May
2014.
1.1.3 Carer stole £57,000 from elderly couple to buy car

Alliah Howe,
20, was caring for the man in Frinton on Sea,
Howe gained access to the 89-year old woman’s account on numerous occasions between September and November last year and transferred money into her own account.
She used the cash to clear debts, eat out with friends and to buy clothes and furniture. In total she stole £57,000. She was caught in October when she tried to use the account to buy £30,000 Mercedes. Suspicions were raised with police and she was arrested in November.
Howe was
jailed by
Detective Constable Darren Herbert from Essex Police’s serious economic crime unit said that Howe had abused her position of trust.
An investigation by The Times this week found that calls reporting theft and fraud against the elderly have doubled in a year. The growing use of covert CCTV by families and friends means that more carers who steal are being caught. However, in almost every recent case, the carer was given fine or a suspended sentence. This was despite sentence guidelines stating that targeting a vulnerable person and breaching a position of trust are aggravating factors. Campaigners have said that the crime of financial abuse of an elder is not being taken seriously enough and the sentences are not acting as deterrent.
The Ministry of Justice will be conducting a review of sentencing shortly. Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden and chairwoman of the all-party parliamentary group on ageing and older people, has called on ministers to take elder abuse a priority.
Note - It
is more shocking that even the relatives of vulnerable old people are guilty
of stealing from their own relatives.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has said a DNA test result revealing the identity of his biological father has come as a "complete surprise". The Most Reverend Justin Welby, 60, has discovered he is the son of Sir Winston Churchill's last private secretary, the late Sir Anthony Montague Browne. He had believed his father was whisky salesman Gavin Welby, who died in 1977.
His mother, Lady Williams of Elvel, has confirmed she had a "liaison" with Sir Anthony just before she wed in 1955. She said the news had come as an "almost unbelievable shock", and although her memory of the time was patchy, she recalled sleeping with former colleague Sir Anthony after "a large amount of alcohol on both sides".

Archbishop Welby, the most senior cleric in the worldwide Anglican Communion, said he discovered the real identity of his biological father in recent weeks.
The Daily Telegraph reports that he decided to take a DNA test after it approached him with research it had carried out into his family's background.
It reports mouth swabs were compared with hair samples from a hairbrush kept by Sir Anthony's widow and showed a 99.9779% probability they were father and son. Former Telegraph editor Charles Moore, who broke the story, said the archbishop was "very, very surprised” when the DNA tests were revealed to him.
"The dates looked impossible because he was born almost exactly nine months after his mother married Gavin Welby, and so it was natural to think that he was a honeymoon baby."

3.2.4 Egypt
A Muslim mob ransacked and torched seven Christian homes in
a province south of the Egyptian capital,

serious sexual offences against teenage girls including

4 Historical notes
4.1 Unknown history of Indian partition
In February, Godbole delivered lectures on Rationalism of Veer Savarkar at Thane and Savarkar Smarak, Dadar (Mumbai). He produced some important historical facts hitherto unknown.
(1) Savarkar had stated quite clearly – I never hated English for being English only as oppressors. Once we achieve our independence there must not be any hatred against them. We and they are creation of the same God.
Despite his bitter struggle against fanatical Muslims in Andaman Jail he had stated - I never hated or even despised Muslims, but should they wish to force their religion on others by force / terror I will resist them.
So, why was his image tarnished by his opponents?
Savarkar openly said, “ I am a Hindu, live like a Hindu and die as a Hindu.” Well known Marathi writer / comedian P L Deshpande had written, “In the 1930s if some one said that he was a Muslim or Christian we (young Hindus like him) were not upset, but if some one said that he was a Hindu we considered him a reactionary / intolerant.” No wonder likes of P L Deshpande tarnished image of Savarkar
