1.4 Secret History & Taj Mahal

Channel 4 have recently repeated their series Secret History first televised in 1994. Taking this as a cue Sudesh Sangray of Luton contacted its producer and asked him if he would expose the truth about Taj Mahal. The producer asked for some details. These were sent. On 25 September Alan Hayling - Deputy Commissioning Editor, Documentaries replied. He said, " It is an interesting story but I have received a very wide range of proposals for the next series of Secret History and some of them I judge will have a greater impact."

1.5 RSS functions

1.5.1 Shibir held in Leicester on 11 August 1996.

Mr Godbole attended the concluding session of the shibir ( a training camp for young boys and girls )  Afterwards he met the following :-

Mrs Pramila Medhe, chief of women's' branch of RSS ( Samiti ) in India.

Mr Desai, President of Friends of India Society International ( FISI )

Mr Mehta, VHP leader of Mumbai ( Bombay )

Dr Bhan, and Mr Dave of Manchester

1.5.2 Hindu half Marathon and fun run on 22 September 1996.

Mr Godbole attended above function held at Rugby. He met Mrs Chavla, a BJP leader from Punjab. She was very pleased with Godbole's idea of  Around London Tour

He also met Neelesh Solanki, President of Hindu students forum, UK.

RSS has proved that it has the ability to organise and successfully run such events. Well done.

1.6 Around London Tour of places associated with our freedom fighters

* Mrs Pramila Medhe is the chief of women's' branch of RSS ( Samiti ) in India. She was delighted by the idea of Godbole's Around London Tour She visited 65 Cromwell Avenue, Highgate, London where Savarkar lived for 3 years. She promised to try to give publicity to this tour in the Organiser an English weekly  of New Delhi.

Mr Sohan Lal Bhatnagar of New Delhi also made a similar promise.

* A second video of this tour is being prepared. Some outdoor shooting was done by Babasing Garayal of Southall. After some more shots, editing will take place in December 1996.

* Dr Bedekar is trying to publish two booklets on the tour. First one details the full one day tour, while the second is a shorter version, suitable for tourists from America or Canada, who have only a few hours when they change planes at London airport.

1.7 Visitors

Dr Bedekar came to England in September 1996 and stayed with Mr Godbole for two weeks.

1.8 New friends

* Through Mr Kainthola of Glasgow Mr Godbole met Sudesh Sangray and through Dr Acharya of Ealing, London he met Nandish Patel. Both are lecturers in Luton University and are active in Hindu Students movement

* Mr Janasari asked Mr Godbole to meet Mr Paranjape, formerly of Indian Diplomatic service. He is deeply interested in our work. Mr Godbole and Dr Bedekar met Mr Paranjape in London in September 1996. . He now lives in New Delhi.

1.9 Menace of the Muslims

The Asian Age of 8 November 1995 reported, " The Muslim population of India grew at a faster rate than any other major community in the country during the 1980s, according to figures just released by the census commissioner of India. The ( Muslim ) community registered a rise of 32.76 per cent in the decade 1981-91, which was nine per cent more than the national average of 23.79 per cent....... The Muslims' rate of growth was 10 per cent higher than that of the Hindu community, which at 22.70 per cent nation-wide was one per cent less than the all-India average....... While the Muslim population in 1981 was 10.88 per cent of the total national population, it went up to 11.67 per cent in 1991. The Hindu population, however, declined from 83.09 per cent to 82.41 per cent during the same period."

This has happened decade after decade, but who has time to think ? Hindu associations in U K are happy organising disco dances and our youngsters back in India pride in dancing to choli ke pichhe kya hai ?

1.10 British selfishness.

In 1995 the French exploded a nuclear bomb under Mururoa Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. Many countries protested but John Major the British Prime Minister said quite openly, " The French are carrying out these tests in their territory so that is alight "

The reasoning is clear. As long as the nuclear tests are carried out in some one else's back garden except that of Britain it is justified. Things would have been quite different if the test was carried out that in the North Sea. The British are just as selfish today as they have always been.

1.11 Independence day celebrations

Mr and Mrs Godbole were invited by the Indian High Commission, London, to participate in Indian independence day celebrations on 15 August 1996. Unfortunately both could not attend.

2. How History gets twisted even today

2.1 On 14 July 1996 BBC2 broadcast a programme entitled Arena ( 10.30 to 11.30 p.m. ). The producer wanted to emphasise how nationalism affects peoples' lives, by creating divisions leading to discrimination & harassment of minorities and also racial and religious riots. They referred to partition of India and told us the story of a Muslim who was driven out from India to Pakistan. but they could not find a single hindu who had fled from pakistan. Obviously there was no reference to horrific Muslim riots in pre partition days, especially the Noakhali massacre of October in East Bengal ( now Bangladesh ) when Muslims killed 150,000 Hindu men women and children.

-- In the programme the producer showed a clip where Lord Mountbatten said, " Nehru felt no resentment towards the British even though we put him in jail for more than 14 years. " Our youngsters will take this as a true statement. When was Jawaharlal Nehru in jail for a continuous period of 14 years ? Let us examine the events :-

The 1921 non co-operation movement was called off by Gandhi after the Chauri Chura episode in February 1922. All the political prisoners were released shortly afterwards. Nehru was released in 1923.

Civil disobedience movement started again in March 1930 . But Gandhi and other prominent leaders were released in January 1931. By the Government of India Act 1935 provincial autonomy was granted and Congress Ministries were formed in 1937. So, Nehru was in jail in this period for about 1 1/2 years.  During this period he was given 'A' class due to the efforts of earlier freedom fighters.

Nehru was in jail again during the 1942 movement. He was sentenced for 3 years but released 3 months earlier. Elections were held in the winter of 1945/46 when all the political prisoners were released. Again in prison Nehru was given 'A' class. He himself wrote that he had all the books he wanted and he took to gardening to pass time! "

Thus Nehru's total imprisonment was about 6 1/2 years, and NOT a continuous stretch of 14 years.

What a wrong impression was created by Mountbatten! And why ?

The only reason was that Nehru did maximum damage to Hindus.

2.2  Daily Telegraph had published booklets on past decades. In the book on 1941 to 1950 they deal with partition of India. Their photograph shows a train crowded by Muslims fleeing from India. That is the impression a reader carries. However, below the picture one reads a news of impending massacre of Sikhs in a village. People hardly read that item. All they will remember is the picture of Muslims fleeing India. That is how the British twist history.

2.3 In this context it is interesting to read 20th Century by A J P Taylor & J M Roberts, two well known British historians. In volume 15 chapter 75 They deal with partition of India in 1947. On page 2096 we see a map of pre-partition India. The authors show predominantly Hindu and predominantly Muslim areas. The map is unbelievable. Even Muslims did not claim so much area to be predominantly Muslim. Copy of the map is attached to this newsletter.

2.4 On Monday 14 October 1996 ( 19-30 to 18-00 hrs ) BBC1 broadcast the programme Master Mind ( 1996 finals ) Magnus Magnusson the question - master asked, " what is the practice of burning of Hindu widows called ?" And the female competitor Elaise Sadek answered, " Sati "

What a perversion of facts! Sati is self immolation of wife of a deceased man.

3. Book Reviews

In the next newsletter we will review the book Disastrous Twilight by Major General Shahid Hamid. As a Major and an A.D.C to Field Marshall Auchinleck, he kept a diary of events in 1945-47. The book is quite revealing.

4. Truth

4.1 Are we ever told the truth ?

Daily Telegraph reported on 7 July 1995 : -

Scientists used Asian women 'for radiation experiments'

Experiments to discover the effects of nuclear fall-out were conducted on Asian women in Britain without consent, a television documentary claimed last night. Researchers for Channel 4's True Stories : Deadly Experiments discovered that in Coventry during the 1960s and 1970s, 20 Asian women were given radioactive chapatis to eat daily in the government's Medical Research Council ( MRC ) experiments.

The women were told that the specially prepared food would help them with various ailments. One woman who spoke no English discovered later that she had been taken to the government's nuclear laboratory at Harwell, Oxon, to measure how much radiation she had absorbed. The researchers found that between 1955 and 1970 hospital pathologists removed body parts from 6,000 corpses - many of them children - and sent them to Harwell for analysis.

One mother who was prevented from dressing her baby before burial found out 28 years later that her child had been mutilated as part of an experiment.

In the programme Dr David Evered of the MRC defends the secrecy of the experiments. He says, " It was not standard practice to obtain such permission at the time. My understanding is that there is still a question of legal doubt as to where ownership ... rests ... of a body."

It just goes to show how many sinister affairs are going on today in secret, even in the so called open and democratic states.

4.2 Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) does not exist

December 1993 issue of WRAP ( work, rest and play ) of the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents carried an interesting news. It is well known that modern life creates so many physical stresses. With the advent of the word processors typists harm their fingers as they are under pressure to type constantly. The condition is known as Repetitive Stress Injury ( RSI ).

Rafiq Mughal, a former desk editor with Reuters, recently brought a claim against his employers for damages for pain and loss of earnings when he developed RSI as a result of his job and was unable to work.

Judge Prosser who tried the case said that he had no doubt that Mr Mughal suffered pain and loss of function but these were subjective and caused by feelings of being watched and 'persecuted' while at work. .........

The judge refuted the diagnosis of consultant Richard Pearson and said he agreed with the view expressed by medical experts on behalf of Reuters that RSI was meaningless, had no pathology and no place in the medical textbooks......

The Trades Union Congress ( TUC ) described the judgement as 'outrageous'

Peter Wells of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy said : " It is true that you won't find it in the medical textbooks because it has not been around long enough. When AIDS began it wasn't  in the textbooks, but we all know that it exists. "

Health and Safety Commission ( HSC ) officials disagreed with Judge Prosser's judgement that RSI does not exist. Sir John Cullen, immediate past chairman of the HSC, insisted that employees are genuinely suffering from RSI and believes the judge was 'not speaking with a lot of medical knowledge or knowledge of industry'

In the editorial the paper says, " .... the Judge's remarks are not only insulting but have the potential to cause even greater harm.

Employees already have an uphill battle in trying to gain recognition that they are suffering from a painful condition caused by their job. If employers do not take notice of the requests by employees to take regular breaks, rotate their duties throughout the working day or use alternative equipment the pain will increase and more people will fall victim to RSI.

Why have so many thousands claimed to suffer from the 'imaginary' condition RSI ? Judge Prosser has the answer - mass hysteria. Apparently the individuals concerned only 'think' they are experiencing excruciating pain and loss of function in their hands and arms.

Looking on the positive side. What a wonderful thought that so many thousands of people in this country have such a creative imagination. Not only those suffering from RSI but the hundreds of doctors and physiotherapists who spend so much time alleviating the symptoms of an imaginary condition.

If it wasn't for Judge Prosser we would never have been known how lucky we are to have people with such creative imagination living  ( but no longer working - due to the pain of RSI ) among us.

what we should learn

(a). We should note the thick headedness of the judge. Mr Godbole had a friend at work by the name Les Field. He was stationed at Deolali during world war II. Every morning he made a list of soldiers who were off sick. One day an Indian sergeant marched a soldier to Les and told him, " sir this soldier is a trouble maker. He says that he has a boil on his bum. That is not in the book. He can have T.B or Cancer or anything else but not a boil on the bum as it is not in army book." Les could not stop laughing.

(b). We should also note that the victim was a Muslim, hence the judgement.

Had the victim been white the judgement would have been different.

(c). What happened to the Islamic brotherhood of man ? We are told that ' you hit any Muslim and the whole Muslim world will raise its voice' Forget about Muslims in other countries, even Muslims in England did not protest.

4.3 Why we cannot speak the truth

4.3.1 Health & Safety at Work in their July 1992 issue say:-

" Employees keep quiet about RSI "

Employees prefer to stay in pain rather than tell their employers they have RSI, delegates at a recent Repetitive Strain Syndrome conference heard.

Until employers change their safety structure and demonstrate that they do care and that they will pay for treatment, their workers will be too scared to say they have a problem, ergonomist Alison Rowe warned. She called for a radical change in the whole concept of work to put an end to " computer-dedicated" jobs, writes Sunnanah Cardy.

RSI is said to be commonest single cause of occupation-related absenteeism in the developed world, with hundreds of thousands of sufferers in the UK alone.

Victims first experience pain whilst working at the task that is causing the problem said Consultant Physician Dr Richard Pearson. The pain then appears during mundane actions and finally extends to rest periods.

He described rest without treatment as "a total waste of time." As soon as a patient returns to the task which caused the problem, he said, the pain returns too. " Most patients that I see can be improved by treatment. However, unless they have a very understanding employer, they usually find that they have no job to return to if their condition requires them to cease work for a period of time while they are treated."

* This fear is quite understandable. On 14 December 1994 BBC1 televised a programme called Here and Now. It showed how workers who report sick get the sack. British government used to pay 80% of sickness costs. After April 1994 it passed on those costs to the employers. They are saying that they will not bear the costs. We saw one man who could not go to work as he had broken his leg and was in hospital. His boss said, " By not coming to work you have shown that you are undependable. You lose your job. " The poor man said, " How can I come to work when I am in hospital ? " The boss said,

" That is not my problem. Just because you had an accident is no excuse. I am not running a charity."

4.3.2 Evening Standard of 27 February 1995 reported :-

Parents forced to lie

Richard and Elaine did not hesitate to lie. For them, and hundreds of parents like them, committing fraud in order to get a decent education for their son is the only way to deal with the jungle that is the London schools system.

And jungle it is : in the fight for the few places in the good schools in the capital, only the fittest survive. Sometimes being fit means having a bright child who can sail through the entrance exams for the selective schools - and sometimes being fit means being prepared to lie.

The problem is the catchment area. If a school has a good reputation and is popular, the catchment area becomes very small and only those families within a few streets will be able to get their children in. If a parent is determined, this poses no obstacle: all they have to do is lie about where they live.

Richard and Elaine ( the names have been changed ) are a liberal, Guardian reading sort of couple who live in Brent where most of the schools are, in Elaine's words, " absolutely execrable." Across the border, in Camden, was the primary school they, and countless other parents, were keen to get their son Charlie into.

Elaine said : " We lied about where we live. We got a friend's address in Camden - everybody does it. People look for a school, then look for a friend within the area where they can use the address. We had a friend about half a mile nearer the school we wanted - half a mile makes a good difference.

" I think the head knows that people do it, but he cannot prove it. Then last year, once Charlie had got in, we told the school we had moved - to this address.

" I know it's wrong, but if you've got good schools why should you go to a crap school ?"

One should now understand why the Indian historians are still too scared to tell truth about Taj Mahal.

5. Behaviour of Christians and Muslims today

5.1 Fighting in Chechnya

Russians have been committing genocide in Chechnya since fighting first erupted in December 1994. Peace agreement was signed by Russian and Chechnyan leaders in August 1996. But what was the Muslim world doing during the 3 years ?? NOTHING. And what did the European nations do ? They admitted Russia to the Council of Europe in February 1996!

5.2 Mr Jinnah's dry toast

Evening Standard of 27 August 1996 carried a letter by one Ali Quavar Jung Bahadur of London. He says, " I was shocked to read the views of Mr Khanyari ( Letters 20 August ) about the late founder of Pakistan, Mr Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He was a strict Muslim as anyone who had contact with him would confirm. "

" For another Muslim to suggest that he broke the most important of dietary rules and knowingly ate bacon, a pig product is an insult to his memory. Others have suggested that he drank alcohol, a story again without foundation. Being very polite, he poured so that he could toast his hosts at western functions, but none of it ever passed his lips. "

our comments

It is well known that Jinnah ate pork and drank. But a Muslim had the audacity to suggest otherwise. He does not even claimed to have known Jinnah personally! Compare this with the attitude of Hindus who, despite all our research, are still doubtful about the falsity of the Taj legend.

5.3 Position of women in Muslim society

Rana Sabbagh in Amman reported for the Times on 28 December 1994.

Jordan forced to confront ' honour killing of women '

When a Jordanian teenager stabbed and shot his handicapped sister to death in front of their parents for having an illegitimate child, the family ululated in a traditional display of joy.

The killing of 18 -year -old Jizia in September was not a rarity in a country where " family honour " is often defined by what happens to women, even if it happens against their will.

Months earlier Ayed, 32, slit the throat of his 16-year-old sister Kifaya. She had been raped by a younger brother, forced to have an abortion and married off to a 50-year-old man, who divorced her six months later.

" I have cleansed my family's honour." declared Ayed when Kifaya lay dead on the floor. The official report said the family fired guns in the air in celebration.

Those two were among 23 women victims of "honour killings" in Jordan this year, out of 80 cases of premeditated murder recorded by police. Lawyers say the true toll could be much higher. In addition there are hundreds of cases of abuse, beatings and marriages forced on women accused of " immoral" behaviour in the male dominated society.

Although honour killings have been carried out for centuries, only now are such crimes being discussed publicly. " People have become more daring in discussing their crimes, which are a flagrant violation of human rights." said Asma Khader, a lawyer, and leading feminist who heads the Jordan Women's Union. " The media is also dedicating more coverage to it."

For most officials, though, the topic remains taboo. Social and family pressure make it unacceptable for any Jordanian couple to live together unless they are married. The majority of conservative families encourage segregation of sexes at an early age.

Sociologists say rapid social change, including greater urbanisation and the increasing number of women in the labour force, is contributing to the number of such crimes.

Lawyers and officials say that in many cases women have been killed because male relatives had proof of " immoral " behaviour ranging from losing their virginity before marriage to merely flirting. Others were victims of rumours or even anonymous letters.

People tend to do these acts because society is intolerant of any defiance, especially when it relates to sex." said Dr Sabrio Rbeihat, an American-educated sociologist.." People who commit this are usually conservative, religious and tribalistic in thinking and behaving, and intolerant towards modernisation."

Many killings are justified as honouring sharia ( Islamic law )  but most scholars deny there is any law justifying killing a woman in the name of the family's honour. ( Reuter )

Is it not time Dalit Voice and Ambedkarites took notice of such events ?

5.4 Killings in Pakistan

On 19 August 1996 Daily Telegraph reported on page 9 :-

Gunmen kill 11 Muslims

At least 11 Shia Muslims were shot dead and several were injured in Pakistan yesterday. Police said six gunmen attacked a religious meeting near Thana Mitro, in Punjab province. The attack followed the killing of 12 members of a Sunni Muslim party in Karachi last week. (AFP, Lahore.)

our comments  Muslims have the same prophet and the same Koran. So, why are they killing each other even today ?

5.5 Plight of the Kurds continues.

5.5.1 The Guardian of 8 October 1996 carried an article by Emily Moore. It deals with history of Kurds. A copy is attached to this newsletter.

5.5.2 Michael Theodoulou reported from Nicosia for the Times on 8 October 1996. He said :- Turkish mission to Gaddafi backfires.

Turkey will withdraw its ambassador to Libya in protest at Colonel Muhammar Gaddafi's criticism of Ankara's crackdown on Kurdish rebels, the Foreign Ministry said last night.

A statement said Ates Balkan, the ambassador, would be called back temporarily because of Colonel Gaddafi's " saddening remarks on Turkey" on Saturday while hosting Necmettin Erbakan, the Prime Minister of Turkey's first Islamic-led Government.

Sitting beside Mr Erbakan at a press conference, Colonel Gaddafi said it was time a Kurdish state was created. He also condemned Turkey's close links with the West and its Nato membership. Mr Erbakan retorted : " We don't have a Kurdish problem, we have a terrorist problem."  ..........

Mr Erbakan clearly expected better treatment from Colonel Gaddafi who touched Turkey's rawest nerve by condemning its Kurdish policy. Calling for a Kurdish state is illegal in Turkey, which has been fighting Kurdish separatists for 12 years.

5.5.3 Amberin Zaman reported from Ankara  for the Daily Telegraph on 30 July 1996 Oil deal is Turks' price of support for Kurd mission

He says :- The Turkish parliament is expected to agree today to support  the extension of Operation Provide Comfort, the US led allied force stationed in southern Turkey to protect the Iraqi Kurds from Saddam Hussein. Necmettin Erbakan, Turkey's first Islamic Prime Minister, promised support in exchange for the right to import from Iraq. Senior officials from his party, Refah yesterday confirmed that the deal between Ankara and the three coalition partners, America, Britain and France, will compensate Turkey for the $20bn ( about £14bn ) it claims it has lost because of the trade embargo on Baghdad.

Turkey has already been carrying on a brisk trade with Iraq while the allies have looked the other way. About 1,000 Turkish lorries enter northern Iraq every day to fetch oil from Musul, which is sold in tiny shops throughout the mainly Kurdish south-east at 30 per cent discounts. " Now the number of trucks and their loading capacity will be more than doubled. It is a real victory for us."  a Refah deputy said. The move is bound to boost Refah's popularity among the Kurds, by creating more jobs and wealth in the economically depressed Kurdish provinces. It will enrich the Iraqi Kurds, who claim profits, estimated at more than $100,000 a day, as border taxes.

Further concessions include increasing the number of Turkish officers in the Military Co-ordination Centre in the northern Iraqi border town of Zakho.

Turkey will also be given a greater say in allied military operations in the region. Washington has also reiterated its support for the territorial integrity of Iraq, a move intended to pacify Turkish fears that under Western air protection the Kurds of northern Iraq are inching towards independence.

For the generals, the greatest advantage of the allied presence is that it enables Turkey to pursue its battle against the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party ( PKK ) in northern Iraq. Western criticism of Turkey's frequent raids has remained muted, even though they periodically result in civilian casualties, particularly among Kurdish villagers on the border.

Iraqi Kurdish officials complain that Western silence over the Turkish incursions has encouraged Iran to launch similar attacks against rebels of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran ( KDPI ), also based in Iraqi Kurdistan. About 2,000 Iranian troops armed with heavy weapons and artillery moved into northern Iraq on Sunday. Iraqi Kurd officials said many Iranian Kurds died the attack and that clashes were continuing.

In Baghdad, the government said the incursions were an " unjustified and blatant aggression."

A foreign ministry spokesman said that Iran's charge d'affaires was handed a protest note demanding an immediate withdrawal.

Our comments :- Kurds are Muslims. Racially they are akin to their

neighbours in Turkey, Iraq and Iran. So, why are they hounded in these three

Muslim states. True Turkey has been a secular state till now, but it is 99.90 %

Muslim. Why does it have to fight with Kurds ?

We must use the plight of the Kurds to expose the fallacy of so called Islamic brotherhood of man.

5.6 The Holy Bible ( Again )

Mr Godbole went to Scarborough for a weekend in August. In his hotel he found a copy of the bible. It was published by The Gideons International, an association started in America in 1899. In the preface they say, " ... In working towards these goals, the translators were united in their commitment to the authority and infallibility of the Bible as God's word in written form. They believe that it contains the divine answer to the deepest needs of humanity, that it sheds unique light on our path in a dark world, and that it sets forth the way to our eternal well being." ( and yet it is wrong for us to place such faith in the Vedas )

They have translated from original Hebrew / Aramaic / Greek texts.

In the introduction they say on pages 15 to 19, " There is a verse in the Bible which has been translated into more than 1600 languages. It tells of God who loved us with an everlasting love. The verse is here recorded in 25 of the best-known world languages which are understood by three-quarters of the earth's population. The verse is in John 3 -16.

For Good so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The 25 languages include Afrikaans, Arabic, Chinese......, Hindi, Japanese, Malay, ..... Russian .. Tamil, but NOT Persian or Urdu!!

Would the Government of India look into this matter?.

6 Letters to editors

6.1. British newspapers very rarely print letters from Indian readers challenging the general tone of their papers. On 15 August 1995 The Guardian published a letter by Kusoom Vadgama author of India in Britain. She says, " Judging by the media coverage of the VJ (victory over Japan) Day anniversary, one would think the British fought and won the war single-handedly ( India's forgotten war heroes foiled advance, August 9 ). Even the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland is unwilling to incorporate a short Hindu, Muslim and Sikh service in the act of worship on VJ Day, a decision as unacceptable as it is insensitive.

It is important to remember that 25 VCs were awarded in Burma, of which 20 went to the Indian Army. Of the 85,000 POWs captured by the Japanese, nearly 60,000 were Indian. Field Marshall Sir William Slim said, " My Indian division after 1943 were among the best in the world."

Where is the British sense of fair play ?

It is good that the letter was published, but the lady still has in her mind that there is such a thing as British sense of fair play!!

6.2. Tamil resistance to Colombo rule

On 25 July 1996 the Times published two letters on Tamil struggle in Shree Lanka. Mr S Pothalingam said :-

Tamil dissent - a civilised passive dissent - has been transformed by decades of harsh racialist oppression into an effective military machine. The LTTE

( Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam ) is a natural phenomenon of human history.

In your admiration for the Sri Lankan President, Mrs Kumaratunga ( leading article, " Defeat for peace", July 23 ), you appear to overlook Tamil sensitivities. The hoisting of the Colombo Government's flag in Jaffna last December was a display of " racial supremacy" to humiliate the Tamils; it was not a gesture towards peace and amity.

It would be absurd for anyone to imagine that the Tamils would ever be reconciled living under military dictatorship in the Jaffna peninsula. Mrs Kumaratunga has prevented the presence of foreign journalists who could inform the world of what is going on in the north and east of the island.

Your concern for peace in Sri Lanka is admirable, but in my view the way to achieve this is for the international community to impose an arms embargo and apply economic, cultural and sporting sanctions against the Colombo Government until it calls off its military onslaught on the Tamil homeland.

Mr Thiagarajan wrote :-

Your leading article states that " despite its terrorist nature, the LTTE has no  difficulty raising funds from Tamil community abroad; the historical memory of Sinhalese atrocities keeps the money flowing - an estimated £250,000 a month from Britain alone."

But this figure is tiny compared with Sri Lanka's £500 million military budget for 1996, refereed to in your leading article, a sum which in my opinion would be better spent improving the life of Sri Lankans rather than killing innocent Tamils.

6.3. On 10 April 1995 Frank Long's letter was published in the Evening Standard. He says, " Battle of Britain myth "

When will this nonsense about Hermann Goering wishing for a squadron of Spitfires in order to win the Battle of Britain be laid to rest ( Londoner's diary, 5 April )? The German Messerschmitt 109 was an infinitely superior combat plane to the Spitfire. It could fly higher, further, faster, carried much heavier armament and could dive from level flight, which was more than the poor old Split could do in its early days. Only when the Spitfire Variant appeared did it stand a chance to match its German opposite number.

But when the Germans produced the Focke-Wulf 190, so brilliant as improvement on all former fighters that we were gearing up a commando raid to seize a specimen when one landed here by mistake. What we learned from the 190's revolutionary technology we used in designing the Typhoon series of fighters.

Our highest scoring "ace" pilot Johnny Johnson boasted no more than 38 kills while Luftwaffe aces counted their scores in hundreds. To field such tallies, even though some of it might have been propaganda, they had to possess a superior combat plane. They did.

7. Research Findings

7.1 Relics of Prophet Mohammed.

We mentioned sometime back that our friend Mr Kainthola had visited Topkapi museum in Istanbul, Turkey. He had sent us some interesting photographs.

* sakal-i-serif mahfazasi, 19 yuzyil

Box of some hair of Prophet Mohammed's beard, 19th century.

* There is a single hair from the beard of Prophet Mohammed.

* hz. peygamber'in ayak izi - the footprint of prophet mohammad.

* a gold sheet that was mounted on the holy stone inside the kabba. This was presented to the then Sultan by the authorities in return of the wealth he had donated there. [ if you believe that you will believe anything ]

* hz muhammed in kilici  ve yayi  7 yuzyil

The bow and sword of Prophet ( Muhammed )  7 The Century.

***************

The interesting thing is that the Muslims did not defeat Christians in Turkey  and end the Byzantine Empire till 1453. Prophet Mohammed died in 632. Where were the objects kept for more than 800 years? And why isn't Saudi Arabia interested in buying back these valuable items ??

7.2 Jalianwala Bagh massacre of 1919

In January 1995 Channel 4 showed a documentary produced by Pratap Sharma of Mumbai ( Bombay ) entitled The Raj Through Indian Eyes - part II : Jalianwala Bagh Massacre 1919.

It contained three important pieces of information --

(1) Michael Edwardes, a British historian said, " Papers on the Jalianwala Bagh affair still remain restricted by a special act. Why these are still a secret is a mystery. These contain information of immense interest to historians. They may contain papers of Governor of Punjab at that time, and even of Dyer himself. It was a very sinister affair. We still do not know the true story."

Unfortunately the producer did not explore this issue further by interviewing the appropriate minister / officials. We do not what the act was and what papers it still protects.

(2) Mr V N Datta a historian of Delhi and the narrator told us of one Hansraj - who acted as a collaborator for Dyer. He lured the people into Jalianwala Bagh where they could be massacred by Dyer. We only saw a photograph of  face of Hansraj. Mr Datta said, " Hansraj was a man of dubious character and an opportunist of worst order. He became government approver on 23 April and was spirited away to Mesopotamia."

There were no further details, no exploration, no interviews of those who knew this Hansraj.

(3) It is not widely known that Dyer asked the District Superintendent of Police Mr Chamlal Puri to open fire on demonstrators. He refused and said,

" First I will ask them to disperse. If they do not obey then I will open fire so that they will disperse." It was clear that the DSP did not want to kill the people.

....................................

After watching the documentary one notices the following.

(a) Mr Periceval Griffiths, an ex-ICS officer was interviewed. He said,

" Whether the decision to order firing on the crowd was right or wrong - I do not know, not being the man on site. I do not recollect that any funds were collected to honour Dyer." [ The British have not changed one little bit after all these years. News of collection of funds for Dyer was published in the papers of those days. ]

(b) On 10 April 1919 there were mass demonstrations by 50,000 people. They simply wanted to meet the Deputy Commissioner and ask him the whereabouts of two leaders who were arrested on that day. The mounted police suddenly opened fire and 10 people were killed. As a result the mob was infuriated and they killed 5 British people.

But while describing this event Mr Datta said that there were 10 casualties, and Mr Stuart and his deputy were brutally murdered. So, if our unarmed kith and kin were killed they were casualties, if a white man was killed he was brutally murdered!!. Mr Datta is whiter than white.

7.3. Savarlkar's  Rationalism

7.3.1. Mr Godbole gave a brief speech on the above subject at Ganesh Chaturthi function held in the house of Mr Sohoni of Wimbledon, South West London on 16 September 1996. He explained how the first requisite - freedom of expression was preached and practised by Savarkar throughout his life.

7.3.2. It is expected that Godbole's book in Marathi on the subject will be ready for typing by the end of the year. He continues to edit the four hundred pages of the book. The contents are :-

8. We Hindus are treated badly, but do we deserve better ?

8.1 In June 1996 Maharashtra Mandal, London published a bulletin. Their President reviewed the activities in previous months and said, " Our Muslim brothers also celebrated Bakar-Id.( on 29 April ) "

Mr Godbole was furious and asked the President " How do these people who call you Kafir become your brothers ? " She replied, " Oh, as a President I have to take a broad view of affairs. We have 3 or 4 members ( out of 700 ) who are Muslims. I am therefore obliged to say something about their festivals."

Mr Godbole asked, " Why not say - our Muslim members celebrated Id. Why call them brothers ? Moreover, why is it that you said not a single word about the plight of Hindus driven out of Kashmir ? And if you were, what would these Muslims say ? Would they condemn what happened to Hindus of Kashmir ?"

The lady said, " Mr Godbole I am not a politician."

So, the moral is clear. We should not say anything about the plight of Hindus of Kashmir - as that would be playing politics. There is no question of humanity or decency there. But we must say a few words about Muslim festivities, even when they call us Kafir and barbarously kill sheep for the Id celebrations!

8.2  British pronouncements of our names

It is interesting to note that while referring to current crisis in Yugoslavia the British can pronounce correctly the names of Alija Izetbegovic ( Muslim leader), Radovan Karadzic ( President of break away Serbian Republic ), Slobodan Milosevic ( President of Bosnia ).

They can also pronounce correctly Netanyahu the name of Israeli Prime Minister or Goran Ivanisevic, the tennis player. However as they pretend not to be able to pronounce Hindu names we cowardly want to change them! While naming our children many of our friends use names which will be easy for pronunciation by the British. A couple known to Mr Godbole call themselves Ash ( short for Ashok ) and Su ( short for Suhasini ). Is there no limit to our mental slavery ?

Why should others treat us with respect ?

9. Hindu awakening at last ?

9.1 Hemant Padhya of Milton Keynes has informed us that a Hindi film based on Veer Savarkar's experiences of deportation for life on the Andaman Islands, has been released recently. It is entitled Saja -e-kalapani   Details were recently given in the Hindi paper Panchajanya of New Delhi.

9.2 National Hindu Students Forum ( UK )

At long last Hindu students in UK have realised that their identity is that of Hindus. National Hindu Students Forum ( UK ) was founded in 1991 with branches in most British universities. In a leaflet they say, " recent events have revealed that the establishment of a separate Hindu youth agenda is now an absolute necessity. The use of the term 'Hindu' as opposed to 'Asian' is deliberate. For too long the British Hindu identity has suffered an injustice "

.............This document is an attempt to present a few ideas that may help in establishing a clear agenda for Hindu youth as we approach the 21st century. If the youth can liberate themselves from the suffocating effects of " Asianess " and feel proud of their " Hinduness " then they will be able to confidently face the challenge that lie ahead. "

Present President of the forum is Neelesh Solanki. His telephone numbers are  0956-957864 ( mobile ) and 0121-608-2538

We wish them all the best.

12.  An Appeal to all Indians

Remember the massacre of Hindus of Naokhali 50 years ago.

Between 10th and 17th of October 1946 Hindus of Chittagong and Naokhali were massacred by Muslims in Bengal. Some survivors of the massacre reached Calcutta on 20th October 1946.

25th October 1946 was observed as Naokhali day.

Please observe this day as a day of remembrance. Let us resolve that such disgraceful day never reoccurs.

We can do the following :-

* Study the events of those days and ask our youngsters to do some search.

* Think what our leaders were doing in those days and how with the exception of Veer Savarkar they all betrayed us.

* Ask ourselves the question why we have no days of remembrance for such victims. For example the Sindhis have lost Sind completely. Do they have a day of mourning to commemorate their being driven out of Sind after partition of India ? and what about the Punjabis ( Sikhs and non-Sikh Hindus ) Bengalis and Kashmiris who faced similar fates ? Do they have any such days ? If not why not ?

* Resolve that such events never happen again.

If you can think of  any other activities please let me know.   My address is :-

Noakhali Massacre of Hindus in 1946

Some relevant facts

(1) Congress Party won the 1945/46 elections by stooping to lowest depths of morality. They pretended to be the champions of Hindus. Nehru said," enough is enough. We will not bow to the Muslim League any longer." Sardar Pate! said, " sword will be met with sword." Congress leaders vehemently assured that there will be no partition.

(2) As soon as Congress Party came to power they started to clamp down on Hindu Mahasabha activists. Two plain clothed policemen were posted outside Savarkar's house.

(3) Jinnah's day of direct action of action on 16 August 1946 resulted in Great Calcutta killings which lasted for four days. 5,000 Hindus were killed and 15,000 injured. Thousands were blinded by Muslim fanatics. Despite Jinnah's house and Muslim League headquarters being in Bombay, and Congress Party being in power, its leaders had no idea that such a massacre would occur!!.

There were Muslim riots even in Bombay itself. 218 Hindus were killed.

(4) On 2 September 1946 Nehru Patel and other leaders joined in the Central Govt.

(5) On 2 October Police raided Savarkar's house. His secretary Mr Damie and his bodyguard Mr Kasar were arrested.

(6) Between 10 to 17 October 1946 Hindus were massacred in Chittagong and Naokhali in East Bengal (now Bangladesh). 150,000 men women and children were killed, 50,000 were forcibly converted to Islam.

Congress leaders did not condemn such barbarity or demand that as the Muslim League government in Bengal had failed to maintain Law & Order the Governor should dismiss the state government and take power under section 93 of Government of India Act 1935. Not even Bengali congressmen made such a demand. Why should they? Hindus had time and time again voted for Congress and not Hindu Maha Sabha.

 (7) Whenever Hindu Maha Sabha organised protest meetings against Naokhali massacre, Congress ministers in all the states used strong arm tactics and put such leaders in jail

(8) Communists and Socialists shamelessly justified the Naokhali riots!

(9) Acharya Kripalani (later President of Congress Party ) visited Naokhali and

concluded that the riots were pre-meditated. All affected people were Hindus. Not one rich Muslim was looted.

(10) Mr Vishnupant Karkare and ten other Hindu MahaSabha workers from

Maharashtra went to Naokhali at the peril of their lives, to help the Hindus of that place. Karkare describes the horrors in a booklet Naokhalichi Kinkali

(11) Gandhi went to Naokhali after the return of Karkare, and that too under the escort of 22 of best police officers. And yet newspapers gave a news :- Gandhi walks alone. He did not say one word of protest against the barbarity of Muslims.

(12) There were repercussions of Naokhali massacre, in Bihar. Immediately Nehru declared," I shall bomb the Hindus of Bihar!" What a brave man. He rushed to visit riot affected parts of Bihar, but he had no time to visit Calcutta at the time of Great Calcutta killings, nor Naokhali.

(13) Lord Wavell, the Viceroy also visited riot affected areas of Bihar, but he did not visit Calcutta in August 1946, nor Naokhali in October 1946. As long as Hindus were the sufferers there was no reason for concern, neither for the British nor for the Congress party leaders.

There have been massacres and mass expulsions of Hindus from East Bengal ( Bangladesh ) ever since 1946. Percentage of Hindus in Bangladesh has been reduced from 29 % in 1946 to 12 % in 1996.

It is high time we realised the nature of Islam and protect and defend ourselves against the monstrous designs of Muslims.
